Champage and shopping

Hotel de Ville by night

Notre Dame by night

Le Menu

Prepared the apartment for our friends and then set off along Rue de Lyon where we stopped for chocolat chaud and delicious pastries.
Sue and John arrived on the morning train at Gare de Lyon and we began with a well deserved vin rouge. Then off to settle in to the apartment before heading off to look at the sights along the Seine. We walked along Boulevard Louis IV to Ile St-Louis for another healthy vin rouge and lunch in a little cafe in a side street.
Then to the Seine where we wandered around to Notre Dame and on to the Louvre and the right bank.
By now the weather was warming and we set off back to the apartment, only stopping to stock up on a supply of champagne, framage, baguette and more vin rouge. We enjoyed catching up on news and headed for bed with tired feet.

Paris Dreaming

After a very comfortable flight, broken into three seven hour lots - with champagne and delicious food - we arrived in Paris at 7:30 on 24th May and then spent 2 hours in a commuter's nightmare from the airport to our apartment.
Sacre Coeur from our apartment back window

All settled in, we set off to find food. Not really a success, but I did try a little French and think I was judged as either American or English with the Madam in the Patisserie not at all pleasant. Would have liked to know what comment she made to her co-worker, but then, it was lunchtime and she was busy!

Off went the photographer with his trusty Nikon while I took time to study my next French language attempt. Having a charming young and handsome chauffeur to practice on during the two hour trip this morning was not as reassuring as I had hoped. He was very patient but my pronunciation left him wondering what I was saying. Oh dear.

Bins out in the Marais

David returned after an hour of wandering across bridges and along the Seine. What? Only 45 photos taken! Some great shots of buildings and an interesting take on LOVE attached to a bridge.

Love locked up

The adventure begins.
