Shopping and ships

Day four:

This was a day for separation of the boys and girls. David and John set off for the maritime museum and Sue and I set off for the shops! We all set off at the same time but parted at Bastille Metro and didn't meet again until after 5. The maritime museum proved to be a great hit if the number of photos taken is an indication. Sue and I headed for Galleries Lafayette where we managed to spend most of the day in the three different departments. Although I vowed not to buy, a pair of slacks and a pair of shoes beckoned and also, silk scarves from the stall in the street. We had lunch in a little cafe and watched with amusement when a small black poodle stopped the traffic by weeing in the middle of the busy road. A mercedes and motor bike patiently waited for it to finish and be led to the footpath.

After dragging ourselves away from the shoes and clothes, we climbed to the terrace of Galleries Lafayette to look at the amazing view out over Paris. It was a beautiful sunny day and only Sacre Coeur was viewed between two close buildings.
We headed back to the apartment where the men had arrived before us and David was waiting on the pavement to let us in. That night, we all set off to Ile St-Louis to meet up with friends Bob and Alexa, also staying in Paris. We had a lovely meal in a restaurant on the island and managed to down only two bottles of vin rouge! Back to Bob's apartment in Quai D'Aniou for coffee and tea then a walk home with more photo opportunities. Another day of tired feet!
